Product placement is where a company pays a TV channel or a programme-maker to include its products in a programme. Ofcom has approved product placement in TV programmes specifically made for UK audiences as long as this placement complies with Ofcom rules. If you would like to read more about product placement click here.
Advertisers compress sound levels that when compared against programmes – which have a wider variation in levels – can appear louder. We have recognised this and use perceived loudness meters to measure the actual loudness of the sound. This means we can adjust the levels of commercials and interstitial materials in accordance with Ofcom guidelines.
Discovery is committed to broadening access to its programmes for people with a hearing impairment through subtitling and those with a visual impairment through audio description. For more information on Access Services please click here.
